Ann Böttcher (1973, Sweden) lives and works in Malmö, Sweden. While she works primarily with drawing and collage, she also uses traditional textile techniques such as embroidery and weaving. Böttcher often include texts, illustrations, stamps or extrakts from historical references in her work, to reveal how human beings, consciously or unconsciously, construct their world by making it represent their ideas and desires, and how this image is changing continually. Selected solo exhibitions include ‘Der Umgangmit Mutter Grün’, Galerie Nordenhake (Berlin, Germany, 2008), ‘The Entrance to the Sanatorium’, INDEX (Stockholm, Sweden, 2007) and ‘The 1st at Moderna’, Moderna Museet (Stockholm, Sweden, 2005). Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as ‘Art of Memory’, Bonniers Konsthall (Stockholm, Sweden, 2013), ‘Meer Licht/More Light’, Museum de Fundatie (Zwolle, Netherlands, 2011) and ‘Thrice upon a time’, Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall (Stockholm, Sweden, 2010).
