Something in the Way

Habima Fuchs

The paintings and sculptures of Habima Fuchs (1977, CZ) can seem childlike in their refusal of the “mature” distance. In Fuchs’ world this distance poses a threat of fatal alienation, of the reduction of the world into an object of technological manipulation. It is not, however, an escape to childish illusions but rather a resolute return to what used to be fascinating as well as frightening and terrifying; it is a search for the relationship to the good but also the bad demons, questioning them about the most pressing issues of human existence. For LIAF Fuchs will create an installation on the first floor of the Barrel Factory.
