Hedwig Houben

Hedwig Houben (b.1983 in Boxtel, the Netherlands, lives and works in Brussels, Belgium) studied at the Higher Institute for Fine Arts Flanders, Ghent, Brussels and Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany. Houben’s works are often lecture based performances, exploring the nature of objects and their relation to their makers. The dialogue between the object and its maker often happens as a process of making, transforming the object. Her works has been presented at Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture, Kyoto, Japan (2015); Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2014); The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, Norway (2014); Konstnärshuset, Stockholm, Sweden (2014); and The Museum of Modern Art Antwerp, Belgium (2014).
