Something in the Way

Ida Ekblad

Ida Ekblad’s (1980, NO) large format expressionistic oil paintings, arte povera-looking sculptures and stream-of-conciousness sounding poetry seems both old-fashioned and extremely opportune. In a time where discursive press releases containing agreed-upon analyses have dominated contemporary art, Ekblad has managed to create a space of her own, immune to the “rules” of the art world. Her use of materials reflects the multitude of consumer goods, languages, sounds and images encompassing us, and compares her own artistic method to the intuitive and improvisational qualities of music. For LIAF Ekblad will show a new video work at Kolflaathbrygga.
