Just what is it that makes today so familiar, so uneasy?

Oliver Ressler

Oliver Ressler (1970, Austria) lives and works in Vienna, Austria. He produces exhibitions, projects in public space, and films on issues such as economics, democracy, global warming, forms of resistance and social alternatives. Recent solo exhibitions were shown at the Berkeley Art Museum (Berkley, USA), Plattform Garanti (Istanbul, Turkey) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Belgrade, Serbia). Rester has contributed to over 200 group exhibitions, including at MASSMoCA (North Adams, USA), Itaú Cultural Institute (São Paulo, Brazil) and the Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, Netherlands), as well as biennials in Prague, Seville, Moscow, Taipei, Lyon, Gyumri and Venice. A retrospective of his fifteen films is taking place at Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève throughout 2013. A travelling show on the financial crisis, ‘It’s the Politica Economy, Stupid’, co-curated with Gregory Sholette, was recently presented at the Pori Art Museum (Finland).
