Pauline Oliveros & Ione

Pauline Oliveros’ life as a composer, performer, accordionist and humanitarian was about opening her own and others’ sensibilities to the universe and facets of sounds. Her career spanned fifty years of boundary dissolving music making. In the 1950s she was part of a circle of iconoclastic composers, artists, poets gathered together in San Francisco. In the 1960s she influenced American music profoundly through her work with improvisation, meditation, electronic music, myth and ritual. She is the originator of Deep Listening – also her life practice – and the founder of the Deep Listening Institute.

Ione is an author, playwright and director. She is also an accomplished psychotherapist, specialising in myth and heritage, dream phenomena and women’s issues. Ione conducts retreats throughout the world. She is the founding director of the Ministry of Maåt, Inc. (MoM, Inc.) and former artistic director of the Deep Listening Institute.
