To See the World, To Feel With Your Eyes

Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen

Tellervo Kalleinen (born 1975) and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen (born 1971) work both individually and together. The video piece they will show at the Lofoten exhibition is a collaboration between the two artists and two groups of people in Birmingham and Helsinki, who were invited to complain to their heart’s con- tent about anything that troubled them. After the complaint workshops, the impromptu tirades were turned into choral songs, which is what we are shown in the two videos. The artists have since conducted similar projects in Hamburg and St. Petersburg. The complaints reveal not just a lot about local life and people’s daily concerns but also broader geographical and cultural concerns.
Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen live and work in Helsinki.
