LIAF 2019

Vagant

LIAF 2019 has an ongoing collaboration with the journal Vagant, with several their writers having residency periods in Lofoten throughout the year. Their texts will be published in a separate column in Vagant, titled Tides.

The writers-in-residence:

Joni Hyvönen, tootler, quill-driver and scrivener. Sometimes a hack in Filologen, Walden, Ord&Bild, Kunstkritikk, Svenska Dagbladet and a co-editor of Vagant. Skeptical of much and too bent on all things speculative. Lives in Stockholm. Joni was a writer-in-residence in Lofoten in April, as a part of our collaboration with Vagant.

Susanne Christensen is a critic and essayist currently based in Copenhagen. She has written for Norwegian newspapers such as Klassekampen and Morgenbladet. She was co-editor of Vagant from 2007 till 2010, a journal for which she is currently a columnist. She has published articles in many other journals and anthologies. Christensen writes about a wide variety of subjects within the cultural field, and has published books on contemporary avant garde thinking and feminist punk movements in Russia and North-America. She holds a Master’s in literature from the University of Bergen (2006).

Mats O Svensson (b. 1987) is a swedish critic of literature and culture, and since four years a resident in Berlin. He graduated from Uppsala university with a master in comparative literature, and has since then written for a number of leading Swedish newspapers and magazines. He is since 2016 an editor of the Norwegian culture magazine Vagant. In 2019 his first book will be published on the publishing house Faethon, an essay on contemporary poetry and the Anthropocene.

Vagant is a quarterly literary journal, also covering art, film, music, ideas and contemporary debate, with a frequently updated online edition.
First published in 1988, Vagant has featured a plethora of translated literary works, author interviews, book reviews and articles on philosophy, film and contemporary art.
Vagant anno 2019 aims at introducing new ideas and impulses to the Norwegian and Nordic debate on literature, art and society. Through thematic sections the magazine explores emerging ideological trends and current political challenges.
The headquarter is in Berlin, Germany, with the editorial members residing in Bergen, Copenhagen, Leikanger, Oslo, Rome and Stockholm.
